I'm going to give you a couple of tips about traveling to Mexico. One thing that the U.S. does well is providing free bathrooms. However, when you go to Mexico, I recommend taking a handful of coins so you can use the bathrooms, as you typically have to pay for access. They do this to keep their facilities clean. If you've ever stopped at a bus station or gas station here in the States and found the bathroom disgusting, you'll be pleased to know that Mexico tends to maintain cleaner restrooms. While it might not be as luxurious as Buckingham palace you can expect to find relatively clean facilities.
Another tip for your trip to Mexico is to bring your own toilet paper. While you can buy toilet paper there, they sometimes provide only a few sheets, which may not be sufficient for your american posteriors. I also want to mention something called "dude wipes." I used to think they were a bit ridiculous since we have toilet paper and bidets, but dude wipes are actually quite handy. They are like baby wipes for adults and have a pleasant scent.
Because of the plumbing issues in Mexico, you can't flush toilet paper. If you do, you risk clogging the toilet. Instead, you can use these dude wipes. When traveling with friends, you can wipe and then throw the used wipes into the trash can. They don't smell bad; in fact, they have a neutral scent, so you can feel fresh and clean.
